Welcome to the
GATHERED.CHURCH

Church beyond buildings and sermons.
At a Glance:
  • We have no "Church buildings" and no employed workers, so as the Spirit leads we support/equip one another to do the work of the Church.
  • We create regular spaces and opportunities for everyday people to experience Jesus, so each person can participate according to how God has designed them.
  • We train believers and not-yet-believers to connect with Jesus, building them up in the truth and way of the Kingdom, so as Ambassadors they can be sent to do the same.

DISCOVER GOD, NURTURE THE HEART
&
 ACT IN OBEDIENCE

Our Father initiates and pursues a relationship with us.

He sent Jesus to redeem us and restore us back to a relationship with Him. Through His life and sacrifice, Jesus made a way for us to become heirs of the Kingdom and to live as we were originally designed, with Him as our loving King and creation being renewed and restored.

God does not simply want us to know more information about who He is or what He has done. He desires we know Him. So he invites each of us to grow our roots deeper into His heart. By His Spirit, he speaks to us and transforms us. His Word (scripture), His Body (each other), and creation itself are some of the ways he speaks.

What is a DNA?

A DNA is a group of three or four believers (same gender) who commit to meeting outside our MC Gatherings.

These are times of listening to the Spirit together, intentionally learning/reading together, and practising Gospel fluency as we become known deeply by a few we trust. It is a place for our blind spots to be seen and kindly hold us in obedience to what God is saying. As a church, we believe care happens most effectively in small, trusted spaces, holistically and with accountability. Our DNA's are a great place to give and receive encouragement in our apprenticeship with Jesus.

DNA's are intended to be flexible. When, where and what length is up to you. However, over the last 15+ years, we have found that weekly DNA's for about 2 hours is best for growth, though it is not set in stone. Keep in mind that DNA’s require commitment, and we encourage each group to agree on a regular time, place, and duration for meetings. Your group is dependent on humility, openness, and honesty within one another.

We have resources to help start a DNA, that explain how to create a safe space quickly, and questions to keep DNA's deep (even 2-3 years into it).

DNA's follow a simple framework
The goal is to help one another to Discover the Father’s heart within scriptures and everyday life,
to Nurture the truths of Jesus (The good news of the Gospel of the Kingdom) in our hearts,
and to faithfully Act on what the Spirit calls us to do.

ACT IN OBEDIENCE

Led by the Holy Spirit, the group will listen and obey as he calls us to bear fruit in keeping with repentance. The goal is to empower the hands.
(Acts 26:20, James 1:22–25)

Getting started
(7-8 weeks)

  • Read one section of God's Story and reflect on it together. This builds common language, shared vision and lays the foundation of starting with God before moving to us.

  • Each week, one person shares their story, without the others speaking into it. This builds safety, understanding and context for future conversations (struggles and joys). Once each person has shared, you each share again, but this time retelling with Jesus as the hero. This helps us naturally practice Gospel Fluency.

  • After someone's story, the other two will get a chance to reflect on it and ask deeper questions to help understand ways they can care for each other better.

Standard DNA
(ongoing)

This is the simple rhythm of a weekly DNA, using these 4 questions to guide an intentional and deep conversation, without heaping guilt or shame on each other. Take turns naturally sharing and listening to each other's hearts.

1. How have you enjoyed/experienced the Father's love this week?
2. What has the Spirit been saying to you? And how do you need to respond?
3. What areas of the Gospel are you struggling to believe? And how might it affect the way you reflect Jesus?
4. What might this week look like, in order to bless and serve those distant from Jesus?
